For Grown-Ups

Behind the scenes of SamReadsBook—how we design playful, accessible ABA-inspired tasks for young learners using tablets and phones.

Why This Project Exists

SamReadsBook is a small library of reading and language practice cards tuned for early learners who thrive with bright visuals, simple prompts, and quick wins. We built it after watching students light up when directions stayed short and they could immediately tap or drag to respond.

What You’ll Find Here

  • Tasks organized by type—matching, wh- questions, sequencing, and more.
  • Visual supports with clear images, large tap targets, and consistent layouts.
  • Notes on how to scaffold prompts, fade help, and celebrate progress.

How To Use The Library

  1. Pick a task type that aligns with your learner’s goal (labeling objects, following directions, etc.).
  2. Preview the cards on a tablet or laptop—everything scales for touch screens.
  3. Pair each digital task with natural environment practice (finding real objects, acting out verbs, reading short passages).
Caregiver Tip

Before starting, model one example. After two successful tries, fade your prompt and offer a choice for the next card.
